How to Fish All Bosses Guide

Check the verified boss order, trigger items, preparation, attack patterns, protected drops, and next hand-ins.

Short bearing

The boss board separates story encounters from mini-bosses and keeps trigger, strategy, drop, and hand-in information in one row.

Which boss is next, how do I trigger it, and what must I keep afterward?

Story boss order

The main route is Spider Crab, Giant Piranha, Pufferfish, Terrorizing Bird or Albatross, then the mutated Bowhead Whale finale.

Mini-bosses such as Old Pike, Blue Shark, Tuna, and Goblin Shark can appear in guide lists between story encounters, but they do not replace the five main quest gates below.

Community sources sometimes use an achievement label, creature name, or descriptive nickname for the same later encounter. This table preserves the common alternatives instead of pretending the naming is settled.

OrderStory encounterReliable trigger descriptionProgression check
1Spider Crab — LighthouseFinish the opening sailor route and use the quest bait tied to the stolen beer objective.Return the distinctive remains to the opening quest giver and confirm boat access.
2Giant Piranha — Forest IslandComplete the forest NPC request that produces the island-boss lure.Protect the boss result and finish the NPC hand-in before expecting the next route.
3Pufferfish — Desert IslandGive the Tourist an endangered catch to receive the Carrot, then cast it when prepared.Pick up the named trophy and follow the active quest text; source labels currently differ between Fin and Tail.
4Terrorizing Bird / AlbatrossFollow the later-island NPC chain and obtain its required quest bait before the fight.Complete the associated return step rather than treating the kill banner as the unlock.
5Mutated Bowhead WhaleReach the final island through the intended route and complete its story trigger.Finish the encounter and confirm the ending state before beginning post-game cleanup.

Prepare the fight

Do not spend a quest trigger until the arena, equipment, recovery plan, and inventory space are ready.

  1. Confirm the NPC request is active and identify the exact item that will trigger the story encounter.
  2. Set the intended difficulty and remember that patch 1.0.9 changes both creature health and damage outside Default.
  3. Clear a movement lane around trees, buildings, shore edges, or other geometry that can stop a dodge.
  4. Bring a ranged or melee setup that matches the dominant attack pattern, plus recoverable food or healing if available.
  5. Leave inventory space for the distinctive trophy item and decide who will carry it in co-op.
  6. After the kill, inspect the item and return to the quest giver before cooking, selling, gambling, or travelling.

Solo, co-op, and difficulty

More players create more damage and revive options, but they also make item custody and synchronized quest state more important.

  • In solo, keep the boss in a predictable path and choose consistency over a high-damage weapon you cannot track while moving.
  • In co-op, assign one player to hold the progression item after the fight and confirm the host sees the expected quest state.
  • Patch 1.0.4 expanded lobbies to eight players even though the Steam store description still says one to four.
  • Easy mode reduces creature health by 25% and damage by 50%; Hard mode increases both health and damage by 25%.
  • When comparing a video or guide, match its patch, difficulty, player count, and weapon upgrade state before copying its timing.

No next island

A missing route usually means one of four states is incomplete: quest activation, boss trigger, trophy pickup, or NPC hand-in.

  1. Re-open the current quest and confirm the expected NPC and objective wording.
  2. Check every inventory slot for the distinctive boss result rather than ordinary meat or catch loot.
  3. Return to the NPC who created the island-boss request, not only the nearest merchant or sailor.
  4. If the item is absent, determine whether the encounter escaped, the item was dropped, or another co-op player holds it.
  5. Save through the in-game Save, Main Menu, or Quit path before testing a risky recovery route.
  6. Check current patch notes before using a launch-week travel exploit or workaround; patch 1.0.5 removed unintended island travel.
